Mary McDonnell

 

Mary Eileen McDonnell, born April 28th, 1952 was an American actress who appears on stage, TV, and film. She was nominated to the Academy Award for her roles in Dances with Wolves as Stands With A Finger and Passion Fish as May-Alice Culhane. McDonnell is known for her performance as President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica as well as First Lady Marilyn Whitmore in Independence Day, and Rose in Donnie Darko. In seasons 5-7 she appeared as Captain Sharon Raydor and in Major Crimes spin-offs on TNT.
